Golf Day

Darrell and Kyle arrived late last night and were up and on the golf course by 6:30 a.m. Kyle didn't golf too much because of his shoulder rehab, but Darrell and Nathan golfed until the temp reached 103 degrees.
Kyle was the photographer.
Nathan choosing the proper club.
The golf course if beautiful. Grandpa Groff works here for 6 months out of the year.
Shhhh.....don't make a sound when the golfer is about to take a shot.

How cute is this???
Front view.
Getting out of the sandtrap.
Is the wind blowing?
They had a great day golfing. Grammy and Grampy are coming tomorrow and Grampy is golfing with the boys. It's only supposed to be 115 degrees tomorrow!!

My Long Lost Friend...KRYSTY!!

This, my friends, is a FACEBOOK success story! My friend Krysty and I were very close friends in Elementary, Junior, and High School! After we graduated, we lost touch with each other. A couple of weeks ago, I saw her on facebook and we re-connected. By chance, we were going to vacation this week very close to her house. We had lunch and talked for 2 hours straight. It was not awkward or weird in any way. We just picked up where we had left off. We talked and laughed and talked some more. We made plans for Krysty and her daughter to come and have dinner and swim with Nathan and I.
Kamryn and Nathan playing in the water fountains. SO CUTE!
Kamryn is as sweet and darling as Krysty. We hope to see them again really soon. We had a blast with them. By the way, Krysty you look so great!

Bugs in the Desert!!

As a Preschool Teacher and the Mother of two boys, I am always fascinated by bugs!! I loved seeing a Praying Mantis outside of our room earlier tonight.
This afternoon we saw the hugest grasshoper that I have ever seen. The photo does not do it justice, but it was at least 4 inches long!!
We saw this beautiful moth laying on the ground outside of our room. It is also HUGE. My best guess is 4 inches from wingtip to wingtip. I wish my nephew Eldon was here to see these bugs...he would think they were so cool!!!
BTW-Jill I haven't seen any bugs from you lately...are the bugs gone from NC?

Wordless Wednesday #30 ~ Resort Toilet Flusher

Questions from Nathan:
1. What if you go solid waste AND liquid waste?
2. What if your solid waste is liquid?
3. Is vomit solid or liquid?

Have you ever seen anything like this before??

Nathan's Vacation Day

Poor Nathan had a REALLY rough day today. First, he slept until 9:15 on fluffy white pillows and covered up with a down comforter. Then, Grandma and Grandpa Groff treated us to lunch at one of their favorite places. Nathan ate one of his favorites...chicken strips, fries, and a soda.
After lunch, we went shopping with Grandma and Grandpa. Nathan got junk food and baseball cards.
We left from the Grandparents, and went to the Pro Shop and got new golf shoes. Hopefully, they'll fit for a long time.
Nathan and I also spent several hours at the pool. It wasn't too hot (about 100), but it was windy. We still had fun.
Nathan spent most of his time underwater.
Always a comic...he put splash balls inside his goggles. It was pretty funny-looking.
Nathan ended his day by eating a pizza and now he's laying on the couch watching George Lopez. I think he had pretty close to a perfect day for an eleven year old. What a lucky kid...I'm such a lucky Mommy to be able to spend so much time with him!!

On the Road Again...

We are vacationing again...it has been a busy summer...but we love to get-away!! Look at the gorgeous orchid that was in the lobby at the hotel.
Give you a clue to our location?? Note the cactus...
You know I have to take feet pictures of my "boys"...love these boys!
We are in Palm Springs for our annual "week with the Golyers" vacation. Darrell and Kyle are going back and forth to the house, but Nathan and I are here the whole week. Relaxing. Eating and Drinking. Swimming and Lounging. Sleeping and Napping. Reading and Playing Games.
My son overlooking the golf course. They'll play a couple of times this week.
Our balcony overlooks one of the pools. It is gorgeous...and brand new...just opened in January.
Nathan on the balcony.
Denise and I in the kitchen. Last night everyone came over here and I made a gourmet meal of chili dogs and mac-n-cheese.
The Living Room.
Looking into the bedroom.
The bathroom is so pretty. The pictures didn't turn out great, but take my word for it...
Luxurious bed. This is a spectacular resort...we'll have a blast! AND the Little League World Series is on TV. It's going to be a good week...

Washy Washy...

My washer and dryer finally died. After 16 good years of service, they finally could not be repaired anymore. I got to know the appliance repairman and his kid. He had repaired the dryer 4 times in the past year and a half. The washer was leaking and he couldn't find the problem. I am so practical (some would say "cheap") that I did not want to spend money on new appliances. Finally, after a $600 electric bill and 4 hours of drying a load of towels...and they were still wet...we bought new ones! Aren't they beautiful? You know I live a dull boring life when a new washer and dryer make me so happy!!

Wordless Wednesday #29 ~ Kyle's New Exhaust!!

note: Mom's do not understand the excitement and necessity of loud cars!!

UPDATE on Little Dwight

Dwight made it through his surgery beautifully. He is resting at the hospital now, and getting the necessary pain medications. Nathan was so concerned about him that he couldn't sleep the night before the surgery and was very tearful. Dwight called him last night to say that he was okay, and Nate was like a different kid. He is very sensitive and Dwight is a very special friend. Thanks for your prayers.

A Prayer for Dwight

This photos is Nathan with his friend Dwight. They have been friends since pre-school, and they have a very special bond...I can't really explain it, but it is very obvious. Darrell and I adore his parents, and our families spend a lot of time together. Today, as I write this, Dwight is in surgery. He is having a MAJOR surgery on his leg, so he can walk better. Please keep him in your prayers today. It is very scarey for "Little Dwight" and a hugely emotional process for his parents, Dwight and Diane. I cannot even imagine what they are going through, I was a complete mess when my "babies" had their tonsils and wisdom teeth out.

Dear God,

Please watch over Little Dwight during this time. Hold him tightly in your hands as his doctors perform this surgery. Be with him and his parents during his recovery, give them strength and peace. Please give the doctors wisdom and guidance.

Thank you Dear Lord.

What Happens in Vegas...

My Mom, Nathan, and I spent the week-end in Vegas. Actually, we were in Henderson, which is just outside of Vegas. Mom and Larry have a condo there, so we decided to hang out for a few days. We didn't do much...which was wonderful!! We swam several times as it was 100+ degrees. HOT HOT HOT! Mom and I taught Nathan how to dig through sale bins...
We had a pretzel during our Outlet Mall adventure...
Only in Vegas...taxi's line the curb outside of the mall.
A portrait of the three of us. Kind of looks like we're being abducted or something...
The Bowling Grammy. She kicked our butts...
Check out this form. Is he bowling or dancing ballet??
Glow in the Dark Mineature golfing. Nathan's favorite thing.
Golfing with the flash turned on. Even though it took us a L-O-N-G time to get there and to get home, we had a fantastic time.
