Nathan's Christmas Concert

Nathan had his Choir performance last night and it was FANTASTIC! All of his friends looked so handsome!

Of course, I had to take a feet picture!

Ms. Voss is such a wonderful teacher and is instilling a love of music into these kids! They sing songs from all genres and the kids have a blast! As you can see, she has a lot of boys in her class! You know she's great when these boys choose to be in her class instead of wood shop!

Fa la la la la

Some singing and some dancing!

My BEAUTIFUL boy!!! LOVE him so much! I wish he would stop growing up so fast!

Grampy and Grammy were there to watch, as always Nathan's biggest fans!

Nathan with some of his buddies.

More friends. Nathan is so lucky to have tons of friends, really neat kids! Most of them play baseball with him, so it is great to see them without hats on their heads and dirt on their pants!

It was an awesome night, I love this time of year!

Happy New Year 2011

Once again we spent New Year's Weekend in Lake Cuyamaca, one of my favorite places. Where? It's a very small mountain town near Julian in the mountains outside of San Diego. It is gorgeous, tranquil, and there is NO T.V...and cell phone reception is bad. Basically, it's away from everyone and great way to start the year.We were sad that Kyle wasn't with us this year. He went skiing with Chelsea's family in Mammoth. They had fun, but we missed him so much!!
Darrell spent some time on the computer...but not too much...
We cooked food and went to eat at the restaurants in Julian. This is Chicken Fajitas! They were delicious! Why does everything taste better when you cook in someone else's kitchen?
The scenery is beautiful. It is such a quiet town...They did have snow the week before. Little did we know that the snow had melted the day before and turned into ICE ON THE DRIVEWAY! Oops!
This is a picture of the driveway AFTER the towtruck pulled us back up. It didn't look like it was "slicker than snot" ice that was almost 2 inches thick. We started down and slid just a few feet...not a great start to our weekend!
A picture of the Lake. The air was so crisp and clean.
We always see a lot of wildlife there. They have tons of wild turkeys who are NOT afraid of people. We also saw many deer, but didn't get a photo...bummer!
Nathan got a cap gun at one of the tourist shops in Julian! I think he went through 200 rounds of caps. I hope they're gone now!
Many of you know that Nathan is fascinated with fire, he loved starting the wood stove and kept the fire going all night. The cabin was near 80 degrees at one point!! Sheesh...
We played Blokus, it was so fun. We got the game last Christmas, but had not played before. I think it'll become a favorite.
Sooooo serious...
So NOT serious...and guess who won? The NOT serious one!!
Always have to play a game of Jenga....we built a very tall tower...
and Darrell knocked it over! Here's praying for a great 2011 for all of us.

Winter Formal ~ Take 2

Kyle and Kaylee looked so BEAUTIFUL...it was hard for me not to get teary!! When I looked at Kyle I feel so proud and blessed to be his Mom. I feel he has turned into such a great person.
Here are "my boys" before we left for the picture-taking extravaganza. Kyle and Ryan had very similiar tuxes on and looked so handsome. Nathan is just a goofball!!
The boys waiting patiently at the park for the girls. Nearly ALL of the boys were wearing tennis shoes.
Grammy and Kaylee's father helping to get Kyle flower pinned to his lapel.
MacKenzie (Kaylee's fraternal twin) and Ryan...gorgeous...
Kaylee getting her flower. They chose orchids which were totally exotic and beautiful. I loved them. Flowers on...

Kyle, Kaylee, MacKenzie and Ryan. The Twins and the Best Friends...ahhhhhhhh!!!

Too much light, but I love this photo.
One of the "classic Dana" feet pictures.

Another great photo of the four kids.

Kyle and some of his football buddies. The boy on the left, Nick, and Kyle actually went to pre-school together.

Kyle got home about 12 midnight. He had a blast and said he even danced! I wish I was a fly on the wall. Tomorrow...a picture of the "party bus" that they took to the dance.

Winter Formal~ Take 1

Several weeks ago, Kyle's girlfriend Kaylee called me and secretly came over to our house when Kyle was at his baseball game. She decorated his room with balloons, streamers, confetti...and made a GIANT mess!! In the middle was a sign asking him to the Winter Formal dance at her school (which is Kyle's old school), of course he said "YES!" and they (I should say she) has been planning ever since. Today is DANCE DAY!! Kaylee (who is cute as can be and has a darling personality to go with the cuteness!) is a twin and Kyle's best friend Ryan (our neighbor..and my adopted son) is dating her twin. They went together and looked beautiful!
This is what Kyles' room looked like! Weeks later, we are still cleaning up confetti!
See the sign on the middle of the bed?
A shot from the hallway...
Kaylee was hiding in the closet and he opened the door to find her.

Take 2 tomorrow...pictures, pictures, pictures.

Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. MORE RAIN!

This is a picture of the flowers outside my backdoor at 5:00 this morning. The pots are overflowing with water and dirt. The pool is overflowing into the backyard and the puppy has to be forced to go outside to go potty. It's a TON of rain, it's crazy rain. This is day #5 of pouring down rain. I'm not sure how many inches of rain we have gotten, it's major. I love the rain, but this is a little overboard...even for me. Trees are down all over the place and people are without power. Do you think the "drought conditions" will be over now??

Nathan, Eldon, and Rain Running in the Gutter!!

Eldon is spending MLK Day with us, and it has been pouring since last night. They have been begging me to play in the rain...and by 1:00 I couldn't say "NO" any longer. I gave them my old gardening shoes and they headed out. It is not that cold, so that's why they are not all bundled up.
What more could a boy want...a buddy and pouring down rain.
Molly got out when the door blew open...the boys chased her down the street...I was cracking up!
Windy.
Get back here Puppy.
The sidewalks are flooding. It is supposed to rain through Friday. I love the rain!
Eldon decided to make a boat out of aluminium foil to float down the gutters.
IT WORKED! The boat floated all the way down the street. Then, Nathan and Eldon came home, undressed in the garage, and now they're in the nice warm shower. Sounds like a fun day home from school to me.
